The property is located on the east <br /> side of Kilauea Avenue approximately 130 feet south of the Puainako Street-Kilauea intersection, <br /> Waiakea Homestead House Lots, South Hilo, Hawai`i. <br /> The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br /> favorable consideration of the request, with a change to Condition F regarding the timing of <br /> construction of improvements to Kilauea Avenue fronting the subject property. The Planning <br /> Director concurred with recommendation of Department of Public Works (DPW) for the <br /> applicant to provide these improvements within a future road widening strip prior to issuance of <br /> a certificate of occupancy for any commercial uses on the property. However, the Commission <br /> recommends the applicant provide a future road widening strip and pay a pro-rata share for these <br /> improvements when the DPW implements a project for these improvements along the frontage of <br /> Kilauea Avenue in proximity to the subject property. <br /> Hawai`i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
