Kamelamela As Corporation Counsel <br /> Dear Chair Poindexter, Vice Chair Eoff, and Honorable Members of the County Council: <br /> I am writing to you to support the nomination of Joseph K. Kamelamela as <br /> Corporation Counsel for the County of Hawaii. I am an attorney in private practice with my <br /> office located in Kealakekua,Hawaii. I have been practicing law on the Big Island since 1990. <br /> During my many years of practice, I have participated in many civil actions, some <br /> of which involved public interest litigation against the County of Hawaii, and instances in which <br /> I represented county employees. I can respectfully report to you that during these years I have <br /> had the opportunity to participate in litigation in which Mr. Kamelamela also participated. <br /> I can humbly report to you that Mr. Kamelamela is a respected attorney in our <br /> legal community. Mr. Kamelamela has been a fixture at the Office of the Corporation Counsel, <br /> and has institutional knowledge of that office which is not easily replaced. <br /> During the intervening years, Mr. Kamelamela has proven to be an attorney of <br /> high legal intellect and honesty. Mr. Kamelamela has built positive relationships with the Courts <br /> and the legal community over the years, and is regarded as a highly regarded representative of <br /> the County of Hawaii. Mr. Karnelamela has earned a reputation as an attorney of high integrity. <br /> He has proven that he prepares for hearings and trials, and offers reasonable and rational <br /> arguments on behalf of his client. <br /> Mr. Kamelamela and I have fought for oux respective client's interests when it <br /> was required,however, Mr. Karnelamela was also pursuing simultaneously therewith just and <br /> equitable solutions wherever possible. <br />
