AGING <br /> AGING <br /> b. By June 2017, caregiver supports and services will increase by 3%. In 2017, <br /> HCOA will reach the following caregivers: 400 conference participant; at least 50 <br /> hours of counseling,peer support groups and training; 50 caregivers receiving <br /> respite services; and at least 25 consumers receiving care giving supplemental <br /> services. <br /> Thus far,East Hawaii had 77 seniors and/or caregivers attend the East <br /> Hawaii caregiver conference on Sept. 31,2016. West Hawaii caregiver <br /> conference was also conducted of which over 130 seniors/caregivers <br /> participated. Also, 16 caregivers received counseling; 20 received respite; <br /> and 22 received supplemental services, like home modification. <br /> Optimizing the health,safety, and independence of Hawai`i's older adults. <br /> 5. Public Education and Protection <br /> a. By June 2017, at least 100 participants will be made aware of elder abuse and <br /> neglect. 80% of registered conference and workshop participants surveyed will <br /> state two forms of elder abuse and share two possible prevention methods. <br /> Approximately 50 individuals participated in the Kupuna Alert Program. <br /> 500 participants received the Caregiver monthly newsletter which provides <br /> information on elder abuse. Surveys assessing senior awareness will be <br /> conducted in the following months. <br /> b. A minimum of 2,060 units of legal services to an estimated 310 individuals <br /> provided to address the need for information about legal: advice, counseling, and <br /> representation. As a result, 80% of cases opened have satisfactory resolution. <br /> 408 units of legal services were provided to 106 individuals thus far.We are <br /> currently revisiting our legal services contract to better market and meet <br /> community needs. <br /> c. By June 2017, a minimum of 4,200 householders, physician offices, and <br /> organizations receive the monthly publication called the "Silver Bulletin,"which <br /> aims to increase the knowledge of and access to benefits and programs for older <br /> individuals and their caregivers in Hawai`i County. <br /> Silver Bulletin has reached over 2,100 households,physician offices, and <br /> organizations thus far. <br /> Six Month Progress Report on Program Objectives for FY 2016-17 3 <br />
