March 13, 2017
Department of Liquor Control
Form #: B-52
Page 2
2) As hosts to the 2018 National Conference of State Liquor Administrators (NCSLA), the
Department of Liquor Control will be responsible in carrying out the duties required by the
NCSLA organization. Hands-on training will be available at the 2017 National Conference to be
held in Denver in June 2017 and our staff will work side by side with this year's host, Colorado
Liquor Control. The responsibilities are enormous as planning began 3+ years ago. Working
directly with the Colorado Liquor Control and NCSLA staff would ensure a successfully run
conference and hopes of bringing other alcohol beverage organizations and conferences to
Hawaii Island. Funds will be used to cover travel expenses for 3 staff members and 2 liquor
commissioners to work and experience the NCSLA's National Conference and to promote the
2018 Conference which is expected to bring 400-500 guests and hopefully more to the Hawaii
Island for a 5-day conference. Attending the conference will also provide for further knowledge
about our ever growing and changing liquor industry.
