Where I reside, there are hundreds of Ohi'a lehua. They are not only <br /> beautiful, but they are a key factor in our watershed. They are also home to the <br /> endangered Hawaiian hawk ('Io). As a native Hawaiian, I recognize the importance of <br /> our forests for water production. This rapid Ohi'a death is devastating our islands <br /> forests, and so I will support any movement, idea, or plan of action that will help stop <br /> the spread of this terrible disease.
