No. 193 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:10 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members • <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on-Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication No. <br /> 193, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 193, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 30, 2017, nominates <br /> Jon Olson of Council District 4 to the Environmental Management Commission. Motion to <br /> approve nomination of Jon Olson was made by Councilmember Karen Eoff; 2nd by <br /> Councilmember Maile David. • <br /> As introduced by Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Harry Kim, Mr. Olson is a <br /> 39-year resident of Hawai`i and is a retired business owner. Mr. Olson is currently a very active <br /> member of our island community and volunteers in numerous organizations including the Pahoa <br /> Mainstreet Association, Sierra Club, Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Pahoa Town Center <br /> Planning Committee. Mr. Olson states that"littering & dumping has had significant negative <br /> impacts on my community" and he has spearheaded many different clean-up efforts. <br /> Nominee Olson was present and thanked committee members for their support and for the <br /> opportunity to serve on the Environmental Management Commission. <br /> Committee members spoke overwhelmingly in support of the nomination and thanked Mr. Olson <br /> for his many years of continued commitment to community advocacy and volunteerism. <br /> EMC Report No. 2 <br />
