Mr. Wery retired from the US Army after 35 years of service as a 1St <br /> Sergeant combat infantryman. He is a Vietnam war and Korean Defense veteran. Mr. <br /> Wery is a current member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veteran of Foreign <br /> Wars, Combat Infantry Association and the Big Island Retired Military Association <br /> (BIRMA). <br /> Mr. Wery attended 2 years of college while in the military and obtained a Liberal Arts <br /> degree through a program with the University of Maryland. His past employment <br /> includes being a job placement counselor with the Alu Like adult and summer youth <br /> programs. <br /> Mr. Wery was born and raised on Oahu and has lived on the Big Island for the past 15 <br /> years. He states he is not affiliated with any political party. Mr. Wery previously <br /> served on the Veterans Advisory Board.
