REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> DATE: June 22, 2017 Re: Comm.No. 322 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:37 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 322, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 322, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated May 31, 2017, nominates <br /> Emile Wery of District 4 to the Hawai`i County Veteran's Advisory Committee. <br /> Mr. Wery retired from the United States Army after 35 years of service as a 1st Sergeant combat <br /> infantryman. He is a Vietnam War and Korean Defense veteran. He is a current member of the <br /> Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Combat Infantry Association and <br /> the Big Island Retired Military Association(BIRMA). Mr. Wery previously served on the <br /> Veterans Advisory Board. If confirmed, he would serve a term ending December 31, 2020. <br /> Ms. Barbara Kossow, Deputy Managing Director to Mayor Kim, introduced Nominee Wery. <br /> Mr. Wery appeared via videoconferencing from the Hilo Chambers.
