REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> DATE: June 22, 2017 Re: Comm.No. 319 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:37 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 319, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 319, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated May 31, 2017, nominates <br /> Minoru Hanato of District 7 to the Veterans Advisory Committee. He served in the United States <br /> Marine Corps.from 1963-1969. He is also a Vietnam veteran and member of the Disabled American <br /> Veterans Kona Chapter#7. Mr. Hanato retired as a businessman and was a proprietor of Hanato Tofu <br /> Factory for many years. If confirmed, he would serve a term ending December 31, 2021. <br /> Ms. Barbara Kossow, Deputy Managing Director to Mayor Kim, introduced Nominee Hanato. <br /> Mr. Hanato appeared before the full Council and offered a summary of his expertise and responded <br /> to questions from Council Members. <br /> Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Hanato.
