No. 355 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:46 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 355, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 355, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated July 13, 2017, nominates <br /> Mr. James Higgins of Council District 8 to the Hawai`i County Salary Commission. <br /> Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Nominee Higgins. Mr. Higgins is a <br /> retired stockbroker of 44 years. He was also Chair of the Kona Hospital Foundation for 25 years and is <br /> originally from Oahu. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of <br /> Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy and has volunteered his time to many community events and <br /> organizations, including football coach for Konawaena High School, Rotary Club, and the Water <br /> Commission. If confirmed,he will serve a term ending December 31, 2019. <br /> Mr. Higgins stated that it would be an honor to serve on the Salary Commission.
