REQUEST: <br /> To enter into a multi-year agreement for five (5) years with Taser International for X2 Conducted Electrical <br /> Weapons to replace X26 Conducted Electrical Weapons. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Police Department would like to obtain a 5 year lease for new Taser conducted electrical weapons <br /> (CEWs) and associated equipment (TasercamHD, Blackhawk holster, Taser cartridges) to be issued as <br /> replacements to the X26 Taser currently issued to officers throughout the county. The replacement of the <br /> X26 Tasers needed as the x26 is no longer being produced and are obsolete for our purposes. The lease <br /> agreement would allow Hawaii Police Department to purchase the required amount of CEWs to outfit the <br /> remaining officer with the new equipment all at once. In purchasing the new CEWs all at once it provides the <br /> benefit of locking in the price of the new devices and allows the department to take advantage of a buyback <br /> program which ends in 2017 which would result in an approximately $17,500 savings.
