REQUEST: <br /> On August 20, 1979, the Hawaii County Housing Agency on behalf of the County of Hawai'i entered into a <br /> 40-year Housing Assistance Payment Contract (Contract) with the US Department of Housing and Urban <br /> Development (HUD) for the Kulaimano Elderly Housing Project (KEHP). The Contract provides for federal <br /> monthly rental assistance on behalf eligible individual selected for tenancy at KEHP. <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) is requesting approval to terminate by mutual <br /> agreement the existing Contract and enter into a new 20-year Contract with an effective date of November 1, <br /> 2017. The new Contract is required to adjust the HUD approved monthly contract to $ 700.00. <br /> • <br /> The OHCD requests for Finance Committee and County Council actions authorizing the Mayor to enter into a <br /> multi-year Contract with HUD. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The purpose of the new Contract is provide housing assistance payments to the owner in accordance with <br /> the provisions of the Contract.
