s�_•• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII • •- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> Tf <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 397 1/ <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF TWO <br /> "MOBILE MULTI" COUNTING DEVICES TO THE DEPARTMENT OF.PUBLIC <br /> WORKS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Public Health Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is <br /> donating two "Mobile MULTP' counting devices, manufactured by Eco-Counter and valued at <br /> $8,000 each, to the Department of Public Works; and <br /> WHEREAS, the "Mobile MULTI" is a durable, self-contained, battery-powered, and <br /> pole-mounted device that counts pedestrians and bicyclists, and differentiates between the two, <br /> for statistical analyses of path and trail use patterns; and <br /> WHEREAS,Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter provides that <br /> the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other <br /> personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section <br /> 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), states that any gifts or <br /> donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization <br /> procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the <br /> Council; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Public Works recommends the acceptance of this <br /> donation, and will initially install one device in East Hawai`i and one device in West Hawai`i; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter, and Chapter 2, <br /> Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the <br /> Council of the County of Hawai`i accepts this donation of two "Mobile MULTP'counting <br /> devices. <br />
