BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> First responders such as police, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are the first people <br /> to be called into action when public safety is threatened. These brave men and women are proud of their <br /> occupations and their efforts to prevent crime and improve the quality of life in their communities. Safety is <br /> already a significant concern that contributes to stress for first responder families. <br /> The home monitoring device (Canary device)---to be given to the firefighters---is a stand-alone unit that <br /> allows the user to simply plug the monitoring device into an outlet, download an app on a smart phone, and <br /> receive updates on activities in that room.
