I believe we are donating 500 devices.
Details of the Program and Canary Device
State Farm and home monitoring start-up Canary launched a unique campaign called Protect the Protectors to increase
awareness about the benefits of home monitoring technology for theft reduction while showing support for the
approximately 3.5 million law enforcement, fire fighters and emergency medical responders who risk their lives
protecting our homes and families.
First responders such as police, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are the first people to be called
into action when public safety is threatened. These brave men and women are proud of their occupations and their
efforts to prevent crime and improve the quality of life in their communities. Safety is already a significant concern that
contributes to stress for first responder families.
The Protect the Protectors campaign was created with the goal of recognizing the dedication of first responders by
providing access to technology to help them stay connected while they are protecting their local communities. The
campaign would build upon existing State Farm first responder programs and continue to reinforce the brand message
of"Helping Life Go Right". Since the launch of the campaign in December 2015, more than 5,000 Canary home
monitoring devices have been donated by State Farm and Canary as part of Protect the Protectors.
Details about Protect the Protectors donation
The Canary device is a stand-alone unit that allows the user to simply plug the monitoring device into an outlet,
download an app on a smart phone, and receive updates on activities in that room. Users can not only see everything
happening in that room on their phone but also hear what is happening, receive alerts when there is movement in the
room, and even receive alerts when there are changes in air quality(fire), humidity (water), and temperature in that
2
