No. 689/Bill No. 92 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:30 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 92, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 92, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, via Communication No. 689, dated December 21, <br /> 2017, amends the State Land Use Boundaries Maps for the County of Hawai`i by changing the <br /> District Classification from the Agricultural District to the Urban District at Waiakea, South <br /> Hilo, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-4-001:184 (Applicant: Hawai`i Island Community <br /> Development Corporation) (Area: 6.569 acres). <br /> Mayor Kim forwarded the Windward Planning Commission's favorable recommendation for this <br /> amendment, to the State Land Use Boundaries Maps, which would allow the applicant to <br /> develop 92 units of affordable senior housing. <br /> Development Manager Jeremy McComber and Executive Director Keith Kato appeared on <br /> behalf of Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation. Mr. McComber gave a brief <br /> overview of the project. <br /> Several Council Members commented with support and inquired as to the process involved with <br /> regard to the land use commission law, and the land use commission process.
