No. 689/Bill No. 92 PLACE: Council Chambers Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 1:30 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 92, reports as follows: Bill No. 92, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, via Communication No. 689, dated December 21, 2017, amends the State Land Use Boundaries Maps for the County of Hawai`i by changing the District Classification from the Agricultural District to the Urban District at Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-4-001:184 (Applicant: Hawai`i Island Community Development Corporation) (Area: 6.569 acres). Mayor Kim forwarded the Windward Planning Commission's favorable recommendation for this amendment, to the State Land Use Boundaries Maps, which would allow the applicant to develop 92 units of affordable senior housing. Development Manager Jeremy McComber and Executive Director Keith Kato appeared on behalf of Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation. Mr. McComber gave a brief overview of the project. Several Council Members commented with support and inquired as to the process involved with regard to the land use commission law, and the land use commission process. These inquiries were answered by Deputy Corporation Counsel Amy Self. The vote was taken on a motion to approve and passed with nine "ayes."
