REQUEST: <br /> Resolution authorizing County (via R & D) to enter into agreement and a no-cost one year extension with <br /> Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems (PISCES), to provide funding for its <br /> MoonRIDERS (Research Investigating Dust Expulsion Removal Systems) Lunar Surface Flight Experiment <br /> Project. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The County entered into an agreement with the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration System <br /> (PISCES) under the Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) on November <br /> 25, 2015. <br /> The amended term of the MoonRIDERS contract will end on June 30, 2019 <br /> The $25,000 program will allow PISCES to complete the engineering cost of integrating the student flight <br /> experiment into a lunar space craft and to allow Kealekehe High School students and mentors travel cost for <br /> hands-on participation in spacecraft integration activities <br /> A one year no-cost extension is requested because NASA is expected to release a solicitation in April 2018 <br /> for the commercial lunar lander and a solicitation for lunar surface instuments.
