The property is <br /> located on the southeast side of Kihalani Homestead Road, about 0.90 miles from its intersection <br /> with Hawai`i Belt Road (Highway 19), Kihalani Homesteads, North Hilo, Hawai`i. <br /> The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br /> favorable consideration of the request: <br /> The applicants are requesting a change of zone from Agricultural 20-acre (A-20a) <br /> to Agricultural 5-acre (A-5a) for approximately 11.06 acres identified as TMK (3) 3-5- <br /> 004:023, in order to create a two-lot subdivision. Upon subdivision, the applicant's would <br /> reside on one lot in a home that was constructed in 2018 and the remaining lot would be <br /> conveyed to the applicant's children. According to the Zoning Code, the purpose of the <br /> Agricultural district is to provide for agricultural and very low density agriculturally-based <br /> residential use, encompassing rural areas of good to marginal agricultural and grazing land, <br /> forest land, game habitats, and areas where urbanization is not found to be appropriate. <br /> Hawai`i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
