REQUEST: <br /> Council to approve receipt of additional grant funds. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> In the 2018-2019 budget, Civil Defense budgeted $600,000 to be awarded from the 2018 Homeland Security <br /> Grant Program. Upon time of award, Hawaii County Civil Defense received $720,000 total for the 2018 <br /> Homeland Security Grant. An additional $120,000 was awarded and needs to be accepted by Council in <br /> order for Civil Defense to utilize. A breakdown of the grant is as follows: $360,000 to Retrofitting Hurricane <br /> Shelters and Key County Facilities, $340,000 to continue upgrades to the Hawaii County Emergency <br /> Operations Center, and $20,000 to the continued coordination, collaboration with the Whole Community and <br /> CERT Training for Hawaii County. <br /> )"7 <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 9/6/18 <br /> D a ment Head <br />
