REQ U EST: <br />A Resolution authorizing the County (via the Department of Research and Development),, pursuant to HRS <br />§46-7, to accept a Financial Assistance Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic <br />Development Administration for a $250,000 Economic Adjustment Assistance grant for an Economic <br />Recovery Plan to inform comprehensive relief, recovery, and relocation strategies for the Kilauea eruption. <br />As part of this Award the. County will provide funds in the amount of $250,000 as a cost -share for the project, <br />using State Supplemental Disaster Response funds earmarked for relief and relocation planning. <br />Also, please amend Operating Budget 18-68 to appropriate these $250,000 in federal funds. <br />Two waivers are requested that would allow time to accept the Award within the required 30 days of <br />receipt: <br />1) A waiver from the Finance Committee, to place the Resolution and Bill on the January 9 agenda. <br />2) A waiver of the 5 -day hold period after approval of the Resolution. <br />B.
