Fax(808)961-8569 ' <br /> cj- <br /> August 14, 2019 <br /> Aaron Chung, Council Chair and 4 <br /> Members of the Hawaii County Council W <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Re: Resolution abolishing an Electronics Technician position and creating a Traffic Technician IV <br /> position with the Department of Public Works <br /> The Department of Public Works is requesting the abolishment of an Electronics Technician <br /> position, number 00-04840, and the creation of a Traffic Technician IV position within the Traffic <br /> Division. <br /> The Electronics Technician position, Position No. 00-04840, class of work is not meeting the <br /> needs of the Division and there is a need for a Traffic Technician IV due to the increasing number <br /> of signalized intersections and the evolving electronics and equipment used to run these signals. <br /> The Division is also implementing regularly scheduled traffic signal maintenance and retiming <br /> programs, which requires more staff to perform electronics maintenance, traffic studies and <br /> investigations. The Division would also like to provide enough staff to train and learn from the <br /> senior staff to allow for continuity in experience and abilities to manage out island's traffic signal <br /> systems. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution abolishing the Electronics Technician position and creating a Traffic <br /> Technician IV within the Department of Public Works' Traffic Division. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Sharilynn Olivar of the Department of <br /> Department of Public Works at 961-8463. <br /> Deanna S.
