Ms. Nakanishi is a realtor, a retired Major of the US Army with an active duty of <br /> over 13 years, and owner of a snack bar in the Hilo International Airport area. <br /> Ms. Nakanishi holds a BA in Education from the University of Florida, a Master's degree <br /> in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and Chaminade University. <br /> She also attended the University of Florida Law School. <br /> Ms. Nakanishi has a list of community services that include the Hawaii Island Veterans <br /> Memorial Inc., the Mayor's Veteran's Advisory Board, the East Hawai'i Cultural Council, <br /> and the Hilo Yacht Club. <br /> She states she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, Ms. Nakanishi will fill <br /> a vacant term to end December 31, 2019.
