FRATINARDO: I have a question for <br />9 <br />Mr. Kamelamela. How is your turnover for your deputies <br />10 <br />as far as salary goes? Are they fleeing to go get paid <br />11 <br />higher salaries elsewhere? <br />12 <br />MR. KAMELAMELA: Well, we did have one <br />13 <br />attorney, you know, who left over six months ago, you <br />14 <br />know, for a better job. So, I could say that. But I <br />15 <br />also have a lot of people who stay, you know, and <br />16 <br />that's because -- part of it has to do with the salary <br />17 <br />because those that stay, too, have told me, "You know, <br />18 <br />Joe, I got a better offer in Honolulu." I said, "Oh, <br />19 <br />okay." So, the Salary Commission increases that was <br />20 <br />given, you know, is helpful, you know, because we want <br />21 <br />to retain good people for the County of Hawai ʻ i. <br />22 <br />MR.
