October 2016 financials approved as submitted. <br />Action: Farrah will provide Mele with breakdown of resolution and dollar <br />amounts. Mele to follow up with Farrah on County's status regarding financials. <br />V. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />A. None. <br />VI. CORRESPONDENCE <br />A. None. <br />VII. REPORTS <br />A. State CSW Liaison <br />• No update submitted to CSW members. <br />• Discussion occurring with Cathy Betts regarding funding in the <br />approximate amount of $2,000 for Hawaii Island Women's <br />Leadership Forum planning activity. Fiscal sponsor is Friends of <br />the Future. <br />• Legislative Workshop will be offered with a focus of how CSW <br />members and others can get information out to the public on how <br />women can get more involved in legislative activity. <br />• A voter engagement workshop is going to be coordinated with a <br />focus on a) educating voters on legislative process; b) overview of <br />Legislative process; c) how legislative caucus works; and d) <br />important role of testimony. <br />• Cyd will be general contact; Farrah will reach out to AAUW; Mele <br />will reach out to Zonta; We need to figure out speakers; flyer; <br />CSW committee come next month on speakers who can speak on <br />legislative topics; writing testimony (registered lobbyist) and what <br />is included; receiving testimony, etc. <br />Action: Farrah will follow up with AAUW and Mitch. Mele will follow up with <br />YWCA, and Zonta. After dates are identified, Farrah and Lee -Ann will work on <br />securing location of workshop in Hilo or Kona and light refreshments. <br />B. NACW — Lee -Ann's update <br />• Breakout session, "Beyond Mad Men: Creating Equitable <br />Workplaces for Women" by Elizabeth Kent, J.D., spoke about the <br />basics concepts of negotiation which are essential and beneficial <br />to women attaining desired pay for employment. <br />• Basic concepts of negotiation include: Power, Communication <br />Skills, Time, and Information. <br />2 <br />
