And I understand, like last year, we had the <br />8 <br />lava flow, and this year we had the Protect Mauna Kea <br />9 <br />movement – so, it might be something next year. Can I <br />10 <br />allow that to slow up these salary increases? That's <br />11 <br />something worthy, where the elected officials -- each <br />12 <br />district has an elected official that is also the <br />13 <br />public's advocate; and I would just stand by that for <br />14 <br />myself, where I would -- I'm not saying how I'm going <br />15 <br />to vote. I want to hear what the public is going to <br />16 <br />say. <br />17 <br />Yes, Milton? <br />18 <br />MR. PAVAO: I think the 70-some-odd thousand <br />19 <br />is kind of irrelevant. What's relevant is the <br />20 <br />perception of the public of us giving raises in such <br />21 <br />hard times. I don't think the 70,000 is a factor. <br />22 <br />Whether it be 70,000 or a million, to me, that doesn't <br />23 <br />matter. It's the perception of what we're doing in <br />24 <br />certain times. <br />25 <br />MS.
