But in the arena <br />3 <br />of being responsible to the public, I think, for me, <br />4 <br />it’s a debate on this 70,000 versus an actual arm of <br />5 <br />government -- meaning us -- that is acting responsibly, <br />6 <br />given the current state of affairs in the economy and <br />7 <br />on our island. So, that's all. I'm going through that <br />8 <br />bigtime debate. <br />9 <br />I also wonder -- so we have the public <br />10 <br />hearing -- if we go through with this, change the <br />11 <br />little wording here, and we have a public hearing, and <br />12 <br />three people show up, and three of them are against any <br />13 <br />kind of increase, are we then, 30 days later, based on <br />14 <br />the testimony of a handful of people, going to make a <br />15 <br />decision based on that? I don't know. That's a tough <br />16 <br />one for me. And so, that's very likely. Most times <br />17 <br />people don't show up at these hearings. So, what do we <br />18 <br />do? Are we going to go and make a decision on a <br />19 <br />handful of people that might protest any kind of <br />20 <br />increase because they hate government? Or we just, <br />21 <br />right now, kick the can down the road and just say <br />22 <br />"73,000 is nothing"? I don't know. That's a debate <br />23 <br />I'm having. I need some help from you guys. <br />24 <br />CHAIR: Well, I would say do we value the <br />25 <br />people that are running and overseeing the County?
