Like if they gave you 2 percent, they <br />4 <br />programmed that in, and we thought that there wasn't <br />5 <br />enough money, we would give them a 1 percent, but that <br />6 <br />money is available or there? <br />7 <br />CHAIR: Yeah, remember, the way our charter <br />8 <br />reads, we don't have to consider whether there's any <br />9 <br />money there or not. It doesn't say we can't consider <br />10 <br />that but, our charge, as Danny pointed out at the last <br />11 <br />meeting, was to see that our salaries for the people we <br />12 <br />recommend salary increases for, are equivalent to or in <br />13 <br />the ballpark with other state, federal, and private <br />14 <br />industry of similar position, right? <br />15 <br />And I know everyone, or most of us, on this <br />16 <br />Commission have concerns about salaries and about the <br />17 <br />County's budget and do we have the money, and that's <br />18 <br />certainly understandable, and there's nothing that says <br />19 <br />we can't consider that; but when it comes to the bottom <br />20 <br />line, our charge is to do what's right to see that <br />21 <br />people that we provide salary increases for are <br />22 <br />appropriate and fair. <br />23 <br />MS.
