BRILHANTE: Well, personally, I can't <br />3 <br />talk about anybody else but, personally, I think I saw <br />4 <br />my family at most eight hours a day for the 18 months <br />5 <br />during the lava flow, for example. And I would say <br />6 <br />that was across-the-board for the majority of the <br />7 <br />department heads and deputies. And there was zero <br />8 <br />compensation for any of us during that time period. <br />9 <br />And, likewise, when the EOC is activated for a <br />10 <br />hurricane, the current administration -- or an <br />11 <br />earthquake, is, you know, department heads and <br />12 <br />deputies report to the EOC. <br />13 <br />CHAIR: Part of your job. <br />14 <br />MR. BRILHANTE: We know that going in. And <br />15 <br />nobody -- I think if you ask -- at least speaking for <br />16 <br />myself, I feel privileged to be able to represent the <br />17 <br />community in that capacity and, at this point, I <br />18 <br />wouldn't give it up for anything. And it is what it <br />19 <br />is, and we accept that as department heads and as <br />20 <br />deputies, and, like I said, we feel privileged that we <br />21 <br />are able to provide that service to the community. <br />22 <br />MS.
