<br />interested individuals for positions in a particular class of work. <br />"Open-competitive list" means a list of persons who have been found <br />qualified by an open-competitive recruitment for appointment to a position in a <br />particular class of work. <br /> <br />"Pay range" means a single rate or a group of rates from a minimum rate <br />to a maximum rate in a salary schedule. <br /> <br />"Permanent appointment" means an appointment without a limitation <br />date to a permanent position that allows the employee to become a <br />permanent civil service employee. <br /> <br />"Permanent position" means a position without time limitation and which is <br />included in a department's permanent position count. <br /> <br />"Position" means a specific job requiring the full or part-time employment <br />of one person. <br /> <br />"Position description" means an official written statement of the major <br />duties and responsibilities assigned to the position by the appointing authority, <br />the organizational relationships, the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the <br />position, and other pertinent information. <br /> <br />"Pricing" means the assignment of classes to pay ranges in proper <br />relationship to one another. <br /> <br />"Probationary appointment" means an appointment which is made to fill a <br />permanent position. <br /> <br />"Probation period" means a specified period which serves as the final test <br />of an employee's qualifications for the position in which employed. <br /> <br />"Promotion" means a movement of a civil service employee from the <br />position in which the employee last held a permanent appointment, to another <br />position: <br /> <br />I. Assigned to a class with a higher pay range in the same salary schedule; <br />or <br /> <br />II. Assigned to a class with a higher pay range in a different salary schedule <br />with equal rates of compensation at the corresponding salary ranges and <br />steps; or <br /> <br />III. Assigned to a class with a higher maximum rate of compensation in a <br />different salary schedule and the dollar difference between the two <br />maximum rates is more than the dollar difference between the minimum <br />and second steps of the former pay range; provided that, a rate of five <br />percent more than the minimum rate of the range shall be deemed to be <br />1-7 <br /> <br />
