BRILHANTE: Right now, we haven't <br />really <br /> <br />2 <br />addressed the college credit -- how should I say, not issue, <br />3 <br />but -- <br />4 <br />CHR. TULANG: You're working with Continuing Ed? <br />5 <br />MR. BRILHANTE: Correct. <br />6 <br />CHR. TULANG: Okay. <br />7 <br />MR. BRILHANTE: Second goal is implement a <br />8 <br />County-wide policy and education program in line with the <br />9 <br />County's prevention of workforce violence policy and <br />10 <br />procedures. As you know, we've been addressing that issue. <br />11 <br />Unfortunately, for the County, we had an old workplace <br />12 <br />violence policy in place. It was never adopted by the UPW. <br />13 <br />There was a court case which stated that since UPW <br />14 <br />was never involved in the consultative process, initially, <br />15 <br />when the policy was adopted by the County, they weren't subject <br />16 <br />to comply with it. <br />17 <br />So, we've been kind of moving forward with a <br />18 <br />workplace violence policy which, you know, UPW didn't <br />19 <br />recognize and the courts didn't uphold. <br />20 <br />So, what we've done is we've initiated and we've <br />21 <br />instituted revisions to our policy. We sent off the revised <br />22 <br />policy to HGEA, to SHOPO, to HFFA as well as UPW. We've <br />23 <br />gotten affirmative responses from fire, police, and HGEA. <br />24 <br />UPW has requested additional time to vet the proposed and <br />25 <br />revised policy.
