TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> PLACE: West Hawaiʻi Civic Center, Building G <br /> 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi <br /> <br />B. Site Visit of the West Hawaiʻi Sanitary Land?ill Immediately Following <br />Recess of the Regular Meeting. Assemble at West Hawaiʻi Civic Center for a site <br />visit to West Hawaiʻi Sanitary Landfill (71-111 Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway, <br />Waikoloa, Hawaiʻi) to tour the landfill and observe its functions. Commissioners <br />and members of the public must wear closed shoes. Members of the public must <br />have their own transportation to the site. Upon arrival, all vehicles are to park at <br />the scalehouse parking lot, and transportation will be provided to the viewing <br />area. The meeting will recess during transit and recommence at the West Hawaiʻi <br />Sanitary Landfill site. <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 27, 2019 <br /> <br />3. PUBLIC STATEMENTS ON ITEMS ON THE AGENDA <br /> <br />The Environmental Management Commission welcomes public testimony on <br />specific agenda items and highly encourages that the testimony be constructive, <br />including constructive criticism. Comments which focus or broaden the <br />Commission’s attention to matters on the agenda are appreciated. Testifiers are <br />invited to wait until after the specified agenda item is discussed to increase the <br />value of the testimony. Waiting is optional. The Commission is looking for <br />testimony and comments about what is right or what could be better. <br /> <br />4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />a. Continued discussion on waste-to-energy proposals or alternative uses for <br />waste, including recommendations drafted by Vice Chair Olson and <br />Commissioners Gaffney and Cardwell. <br /> <br />b. Continued discussion on the status of the County of Hawaiʻi’s recycling <br />contract and review of commissioners’ lists of ideas and options. <br /> <br />
