1.5 An analysis and description of youth workforce activities, including activities for youth with disabilities. <br /> Include analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of such services,and the capacity to provide such services. <br /> [WIOA Sec. 108(b)(1)(d)and 108(b)(9)] <br /> Activities Strengths Weaknesses <br /> • Skills assessment • Retention and persistence • Services to in-school <br /> • Access to eligible • Dedicated Employment youth decrease under <br /> education and training Counselors WIOA <br /> programs • Ability to partner, • Technology <br /> • Work Experience leverage resources to • Transportation <br /> • Job search and placement stretch funding • High turnover of <br /> assistance • Awareness of local participants <br /> • Career counseling business needs • Lack of follow through <br /> • Support services • Locally based from the participants side <br /> • Provide employers with • Local Labor Market <br /> qualified labor pool Information <br /> • Program Outreach • Extensive community <br /> collaboration and <br /> outreach <br /> • Job matching <br /> • Promotes the hiring of <br /> persons with disabilities <br /> through a business <br /> leadership network <br /> The current Youth Service Provider,Goodwill Industries of Hawaii,delivers high quality education,case <br /> management,employment,acculturation,financial, life, literacy and social skill services to diverse consumers <br /> including: individuals with disabilities, Native Hawaiian, English as a Second Language learners,immigrants, <br /> individuals with a history of alcohol or substance abuse, individuals previously or currently incarcerated, public <br /> housing residents, homeless, at-risk,disabled or economically disadvantaged youth. <br /> The Youth Service Provider has and will continue to develop strong working relationships with numerous local, <br /> State and Federal agencies including Hawaii County Workforce Development Board (HCWDB),Office of Youth <br /> Services, Department of Human Services,Office of Community Lands,Department of Health, Internal Revenue <br /> Service, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, University of Hawaii (UH) Hilo and UH Community Colleges, <br /> Waipahu Community School for Adults. <br /> 1.6 Identify successful models and best practices for youth workforce activities relevant to the local area. [WIOA <br /> Sec. 108(6)(9)] <br /> Workforce services are comprehensive and flexible and specifically meet the unique needs of each youth.Ongoing <br /> intensive case management,training opportunities,support services,and mentoring opportunities are central <br /> facets of the program design.The youth are provided with activities and a variety of options to improve individual <br /> educational and skills competencies and make effective connections with employers. <br /> Program utilizes the elements of the WIOA youth program and engages youth in healthy behaviors and empowers <br /> them with tools to reduce unhealthy risk behaviors.The program creates a caring environment where youth feel <br /> 15 <br />
