COMPLIANCE <br />A. TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL: <br />• 05/01/20: Hilo WWTP NPDES (renewal) received Final Permit from DOH. DOH <br />removed the strict Water Quality based effluent limits on nitrogen. <br />• 11/08/19: Kaloko WWTP UIC Permit Annual O&M Inspection. WWTP received <br />an unacceptable O&M rating. Consultant contract executed based on DOH <br />requirements. Consultant is working on providing Basis of Design Review/Mass <br />Balance on 25,000 gpd operating conditions. <br />• 05/15/20: WWD received an RFI Letter from DOH for the Pretreatment Program <br />that is in place for the Hilo WWTP. Response to the RFI is required by 07/31/20. <br /> <br />B. COLLECTION SYSTEM: No report. <br /> <br />2. OPERATIONS <br />A. TREATMENT/COLLECTION SYSTEMS AND PUMPING STATIONS/ FORCE MAINS: <br />Unscheduled repairs/upgrades/replacement of failing equipment due to age and <br />prolonged wear and tear continue where necessary throughout the wastewater <br />facilities. <br /> <br />B. SAFETY PRACTICES/TRAINING: <br />WWD administration continues to review and update the Emergency Response <br />Procedures and the Standard Safety Procedures and the weekly safety meeting <br />agendas. <br /> <br />3. ADMINISTRATION <br />A. VACANT POSITIONS IN OPERATIONS: <br />• Operator IV (Hilo – 1 position): recruitment in progress. <br />• Operator Supervisor III (Kona – 1 position): interviewed two candidates; <br />selection is in progress. <br />9 <br /> <br />
