General Plan Discussion <br /> The Hawaii County General Plan serves as a guide for decision- <br /> makers in land use matters. The proposed project is conducive to <br /> the General Plan's guidelines as it conforms to the following goals, <br /> policies and standards of the General Plan: <br /> 2.2 Goals <br /> (a) Provide residents with opportunities to improve their quality <br /> of life through economic development that enhances the <br /> County's natural and social environments. <br /> (d) Provide an economic environment that allows new, <br /> expanded, or improved economic opportunities that are <br /> compatible with the County's cultural, natural and social <br /> environment. <br /> 2.3 Policies <br /> (p) Identify the needs of the business community and take <br /> actions that are necessary to improve the business climate. <br /> (x) Encourage the health/wellness industry. <br /> 9.2 Goals <br /> (1) Seek sufficient production of new affordable rental and fee- <br /> simple housing in the County in a variety of sizes to <br /> satisfactorily accommodate the needs and desires of families <br /> and individuals. <br /> (f) Encourage and expand home ownership opportunities for <br /> residents <br /> 14.1.2 Goals <br /> (a) Designate and allocate land uses in appropriate proportions <br /> and mix and in keeping with the social, cultural, and physical <br /> environments of the County. <br /> 14.1.3 Policies <br /> (0 Encourage the development and maintenance of <br /> communities meeting the needs of its residents in balance <br /> with the physical and social environment <br /> 4 <br />
