Section 6-2.2. Director. <br />The director of public works shall be appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council <br />and may be removed by the mayor. The director shall be a registered professional engineer. Powers, Duties and Functions. <br />The powers, duties and functions of the department of public works shall be prescribed <br />by ordinance and shall be exercised and performed by the department. <br />(1979, Prop. 13.) <br />CHAPTER 3 <br />DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> <br />Section 6-3.1. Organization. <br /> There shall be a department of parks and recreation consisting of a parks and recreation <br />director and the necessary staff. <br /> <br />Section 6-3.2. County Bands. <br />The county bands shall be a part of the department of parks and recreation for <br />administrative purposes. The bandmasters shall be appointed by the mayor and may be removed <br />by themayor. The members of the bands and other employees connected therewith shall be <br />appointed by the bandmasters and may be removed by the bandmasters with the approval of the <br />managing director, and all positions in the bands shall be exempt from civil service laws and <br />classifications. <br /> <br /> <br />CHAPTER 4 <br />DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY <br /> <br />Section 6-4.1.
