Section 6-4.2. Appointment and Removal. <br />The director of information technologyshall be appointed by the mayor, confirmed by <br />the council and may be removed by the mayor. <br />(2010, Prop. 9, secs. 2 and 3.) <br />Section 6-4.3. Qualifications. <br />The director ofinformation technology shall have had a minimum of five years of <br />experience in the field of information technology, communications networking, and <br />development, implementation and operation of enterprise-oriented applications, at least three <br />years of which shall have been in an administrative and managerial capacity in a technology <br />environment at least comparable to that of the county’s system. <br />(2010, Prop. 9, secs. 2 and 3; 2020, Prop. 1, sec. 5.) <br />Section 6-4.4. Powers, Duties,and Functions. <br /> The director of information technology shall: <br />(a) Operate the network system, and coordinate and oversee the operations of <br />departmental technology, except for technology maintained by the department of <br />water supply. <br />(b) Provide technical expertise in information technology to applicable departments <br />and agencies of thecounty. <br />(c) Assist in the development of an information technology workforce and a services- <br />oriented infrastructure. <br />(d) Advise the mayor on matters related to information technology. <br />(e) Perform such other duties as may be required by law. <br />(2010, Prop. 9, secs. 2 and 3; 2020, Prop. 1, sec. 6.) <br />CHAPTER 5 <br />CORPORATION COUNSEL <br /> <br />Section 6-5.1. Organization. <br /> There shall be a department of the corporation counsel consisting of the corporation <br />counsel, assistant corporation counsel and the necessary staff. <br />(2000, Prop. 2, sec. 1.) <br />Section 6-5.2. Appointment and Removal. <br />The corporation counsel shall be appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council and <br />may be removed by the mayor with the approval of the council. The corporation counsel shall be <br />an attorney licensed to practice and in good standing before the Supreme Court of the State of <br />Hawai‘i.
