MUKAL Yes. <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Oscar was a previous supervisor of mine at Andrews. <br />MR. MUKAL Okay. And he says you had very poor people skills, kind of had a power trip <br />mentality, that you're very confrontational. You agree with that assessment? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: No, sir. <br />MR. MUKAL Okay. What about on the next page. Who is "Joseph Hing?" <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: The next page, oh, Joseph JR Hing, yeah. Joseph JR Hing was a <br />supervisor of mine on the Mauna Kea site PSG—Private Security Group. <br />MR. MUKAL Okay. He knows that you're, kind of, weird. You agree with that assessment? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Weird in the definition of different? Yes. <br />MR. MUKAL So, he's unable to provide a positive recommendation for the position. So, you <br />would not agree with that statement, right? You'd want to be a police recruit, correct? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: I would like to be a police officer, yes, sir. But I cannot speak to his <br />comments. That is his and his alone. <br />MR. MUKAI: Next page—who's "Mahealani Ching?" <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: That's under character reference, Mahealani Ching is a former <br />associate of mine from University of Hawaii at Hilo. <br />MR. MUKAL In fact, you put her down as a personal reference, right? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Yes, sir. <br />MR. MUKAL And she recommends you with hesitancy `cause you need to mature some.
