A DMINISTRATION § 2-17 <br />(4) Make periodic reports to the council concerning the affairs and activities of the <br />department; and <br />(5) Perform and discharge such other duties as may be assigned to the head of the <br />volunteer fire department by the council. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 6, sec 2-17; am 2004, ord 04-22, sec 3.)2-17 <br />Section 2-18. Appointment of other personnel. <br />The council may provide for the appointment of other personnel as it deems <br />necessary to carry out this article. All such appointees shall be paid monthly salaries as <br />may be fixed in accordance with the provisions of the personnel classification laws. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 6, sec 2-18.)2-18 <br />Section 2-19. Volunteer personnel. <br />The organization of the volunteer fire department shall be patterned as closely as is <br />practicable after that of the fire department. The head of the volunteer fire department <br />shall appoint, with the approval of the council, such volunteer personnel as the head of <br />the volunteer fire department deems necessary to fill the membership of the <br />department. The qualifications for membership shall be as prescribed by the rules and <br />regulations governing the conduct of the department. These rules and regulations shall <br />be formulated by the department head and presented to the council for its approval. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 6, sec 2-19.)2-19 <br />Section 2-20. Mileage reimbursements for volunteer fire personnel. <br />All volunteer fire personnel residing in a district other than the district where a fire <br />occurs and who are duly authorized to participate and aid in the control of that fire <br />shall be reimbursed at such rates prescribed by, and subject to, the requirements set <br />forth in section 2-101(b), for each mile actually and necessarily traveled, in the <br />performance of their volunteer activities. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 6, sec 2-20; am 1989, ord 89-28, sec 1; am 2006, ord 06-100, sec 2.)2-20 <br />Section 2-21. Coordination of volunteer and regular fire departments. <br />In the event of a fire occurring at any place within the County, the head of the <br />volunteer fire department shall place the personnel of this department under the <br />direction and control of the County fire department, which may utilize the service of the <br />personnel of the volunteer fire department to the fullest extent to aid in bringing such <br />fire under control and to perform such other duties as may be necessary to provide for <br />the maximum safety of the inhabitants of the area threatened by such conflagration. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 6, sec 2-21.)2-21 <br />Section 2-22. Use of County fire-fighting equipment. <br />The fire-fighting apparatus and facilities of the County fire department, necessary <br />to carry out the purpose of this article shall be made available to the volunteer fire <br />department when the chief engineer, County fire department, is satisfied that the <br />efficiency of this department will not be seriously impaired. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 6, sec 2-22.)2-22 <br /> <br />2-11 <br /> <br />
