A DMINISTRATION § 2-51 <br />Article 10. Junior Police Officers. <br />Section 2-51. Financial aid to parents. <br />Upon the contingencies and conditions under this section the parents, or the <br />parent, guardian or custodian of any member of the junior police of the County, shall be <br />entitled to financial aid in the manner specified: <br />(1) In the event that a member of the junior police officers of the County receives <br />any injury arising out of and in the course of the performance of the member of <br />the junior police officer’s duties as a junior police officer directing traffic in the <br />County, including but not limited to the preparation to go on duty such as <br />changing into uniform or procuring necessary equipment, as well as returning <br />such equipment, the County shall pay for the cost of necessary medical care <br />and hospitalization of any such member of the junior police officers of the <br />County so injured, but in any case not to exceed the sum of $10,000. <br />(2) In the event that a member of the junior police officers of the County receives <br />any injury resulting in death arising out of and in the course of the <br />performance of the member of the junior police officer’s duties as a junior <br />police officer directing traffic in the County, including but not limited to the <br />preparation to go on duty, changing into uniform or procuring necessary <br />equipment, as well as returning such equipment, the County shall pay for the <br />member of the junior police officer’s funeral expenses, but in any case not to <br />exceed the sum of $750. <br />(1983 CC, c 2, art 10, sec 2-51.)2-51 <br />Section 2-52. Reporting of injury; investigation. <br />Every injury shall be reported immediately or as soon thereafter as practicable by <br />the injured junior police officer (hereinafter JPO) or the JPO in charge or the parents or <br />guardian of the injured JPO or the school authorities in charge of the JPO and to the <br />police department. The police department shall conduct an investigation and submit a <br />report of the circumstances surrounding the injury or death and the resulting claims to <br />the mayor.
