C ONSTRUCTION A DMINISTRATIVE C ODE§ 5-8-21 <br />Division 2. Authorization for service; certificate of occupancy. <br />Section 5-8-21. Permanent electrical service. <br />Permanent electrical service shall be authorized by the authority having <br />jurisdiction upon completion of the following requirements: <br />(1) All permanent service equipment shall be inspected by the authority having <br />jurisdiction; <br />(2) For non-residential installations, all rooms containing permanent service <br />equipment shall be completed and securable by means of a temporary or <br />permanent door and lock system; <br />(3) For residential installations, permanent service equipment shall be installed <br />on permanent buildings, meter poles or meter pedestals with provisions for <br />locking out the main service disconnects; and <br />(4) The electrical contractor shall be responsible and in control of all permanent <br />power access and usage. <br />(2020, ord 20-61, sec 2.) 5-8-21 <br />Section 5-8-22. Certificate of occupancy. <br />(a) Certificate of occupancy requirement. <br /> No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing <br />occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made <br />until the authority having jurisdiction has issued a certificate of occupancy therefor <br />as provided herein. Issuance of a certificate of occupancy shall not be construed as <br />an approval of a violation of the construction code or other applicable law. <br /> Exception: <br /> Group R, Division 3, and Group U occupancies will not be issued a certificate of <br />occupancy. <br />(b) Certificate issuance. <br /> If the authority having jurisdiction inspects the building or structure and finds <br />that the work complies with the provisions of the construction code, the authority <br />having jurisdiction shall issue a certificate of occupancy. The certificate of <br />occupancy shall contain the following: <br />(1) The permit number; <br />(2) The address of the structure; <br />(3) The name and address of the owner; <br />(4) A description of that portion of the structure for which the certificate is issued; <br />(5) A statement that the described portion of the structure has been inspected for <br />compliance with the requirements of the construction code for the occupancy <br />and division of occupancy and the use for which the proposed occupancy is <br />classified; <br />(6) The name of the authority having jurisdiction; <br />(7) The edition of the code under which the permit was issued; <br />SUPP. 9 (1-2021) <br />5-39 <br /> <br />
