E NERGY C ONSERVATION C ODE§5E-2-1 <br />(41) A new subsection R403.5.5 is added to the International Energy Conservation <br />Code to read as follows: <br />“R403.5.5 Solar water heating. Solar water heating systems are <br />required for new single-family residential construction pursuant to <br />section 196-6.5, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes. <br />Exception: A water heating device as approved via Solar Hot Water <br />Heater Variance by the Department of Business, Economic <br />Development & Tourism, Hawai‘i State Energy Office.” <br />(42) A new subsection R404.2 is added to the International Energy Conservation <br />Code to read as follows: <br />“R404.2 Ceiling Fans.A ceiling fan, ceiling fan rough-in, or whole <br />house fan may be provided for bedrooms and the largest habitable <br />space that is not used as a bedroom.” <br />(43) A new subsection R404.3 is added to the International Energy Conservation <br />Code to read as follows: <br />“R404.3 Electrical vehicle charger power. An electrical rough-in <br />of a 30 amp circuit for future electrical vehicle charger may be <br />installed in garage/carport area.” <br />(44) TABLE 405.5.2(1) of the International Energy Conservation Code is amended <br />to read as follows: <br />“TABLE R405.5.2(1) <br />SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE STANDARD REFERENCE AND <br />PROPOSED DESIGNS <br />BUILDING <br />STANDARD REFERENCE DESIGN PROPOSED DESIGN <br />COMPONENT <br />Type: mass wall if proposed wall is mass; <br />As proposed <br />otherwise wood frame <br />Gross area: same as proposed As proposed <br />Above-grade walls <br />U-factor: asspecified in Table R402.1.4 As proposed <br />Solar absorptance = 0.75 As proposed <br />Emittance = 0.90As proposed <br />Type: same as proposed As proposed <br />Basement and crawl Gross area: same as proposed As proposed <br />space walls <br />U-factor: from Table R402.1.4, with <br />As proposed <br />insulation layer on interior side of walls <br />SUPP. 9 (1-2021) <br />5E-21 <br /> <br />
