Chair Abraham Antonio, welcomes anyone that may want to say something regarding an <br />agenda item may do so anytime throughout the meeting. <br /> <br />5. PRESENTATIONS: <br /> <br />a. Dr. Melissa Price, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural Resources and <br />Environmental Management College of Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources, <br />University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, will share her expertise on the subject of game <br />resources. <br /> <br />Chair Antonio thanked Dr. Price for her presentation. <br /> <br />Click on the follow to view the presentation. <br /> GMAC_Hawaii_Island_10-19-21.pptx <br /> <br />b. Ian Cole, DOFAW East Hawaii Wild Life Biologist will explain Act 90, a 2022 Legislative <br />Bill. <br /> Chair Antonio asked to amend the agenda to say that Ian Cole’s presentation is strictly <br />educational. He will briefly share what Act 90 is about. <br /> <br /> <br /> Action: B. Ley motioned to amend the agenda to a brief presentation of what Act 90 is. <br /> Seconded by C. Okumura. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br /> Chair Antonio welcomed Ian Cole and thanked him for joining the group tonight. <br /> <br /> Ian Cole shared that in 2003, Act 90 which was passed by the Hawai’i Legislature, <br />directed the transfer of state-owned agricultural leases under DLNR to the Hawai’i <br />Department of Agriculture. The goal was to provide farmers and ranchers with the <br />security that their leases would support continued agricultural production. <br /> <br /> There might be an opportunity for DOFAW to secure additional hunting where <br />appropriate on Ag leases whether they are DLNR or DOA. <br /> <br /> <br />6. OLD BUSINESS: <br /> <br />a. Action Item: Review and approve draft letter requesting the County Planning <br />Department to pursue the development of the Kaupakuea public access into the Hilo <br />Forest Reserve. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
