Merit Appeals Board <br />December 2, 2021 <br />Also, present in the Council Chambers is Mr. Ryan Thomas, Deputy Corporation Counsel, from <br />the Office of the Corporation Counsel. <br />MR. THOMAS: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning. We also have Ms. Elyse Stevens present. <br />MS. STEVENS: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning. Appearing from Honolulu via Zoom is our Deputy Attorney <br />General, Ms. Amanda Furman. Good morning, Amanda. <br />MS. FURMAN: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: So, let usI don't think there's anyone else to introduce. Let us move <br />forward with the agenda. <br />Addendum to Agenda (Item 2) <br />CHR. CABANAS: There is no addendum to the agenda. <br />Statements from the Public (Item 3) <br />CHR. CABANAS: And no "Statements from the Public" according to our secretary -reporter. <br />Approval of Minutes (Item 4): <br />CHR. CABANAS: We do not have any "Approval of Minutes" to discuss. <br />Moving forward, we have a 10 a.m. continuation of hearing regarding Communication number <br />21-04. The Chair has recused herself from this appeal hearing and my reasons were set forth on <br />record at previous meetings. <br />NOTE: On October 29, 2021, the Merit Appeals Board convened a hearing on this matter, <br />which was continued to the Board's next meeting scheduled on November 19, 2021. <br />On November 19, the hearing concluded with both parties presenting their closing <br />arguments and the Board entered into its deliberations; however, they were unable to <br />conclude its deliberations. Therefore, deliberations will be continued at its next meeting <br />scheduled on December 2, 2021. (Discussion will be limited to the Board and its Counsel <br />only and will not include further statements by both parties.) <br />Page 3 <br />
