APPLICANT: DOROTHY MADIGAN (SPP 08-000069) <br />Special Permit to allow the establishment of a 2-bedroom bed and breakfast establishment within <br />an existing 3-bedroom single family dwelling situated on 15,132 square feet of land within the <br />State Land use Agricultural District. The property is located at 94-1553 Kaulua Circle, <br />Discovery Harbour Subdivision, Unit I, Ka’u, Hawaii, TMK: 9-4-21:142. <br />Mr. Darrow oriented the Commission and public regarding the subject and surrounding <br />properties on the location map, site plan and aerial photo, summarized the request, and noted that <br />the Planning Director recommends approval of the application with conditions. <br />Commissioner Bowman inquired about the type of breakfast to be served to guests since there is <br />no mention of a Department of Health permit in the application; Mr. Darrow responded that it <br />has to be a Continental breakfast such as fruits and muffins. He also mentioned that the <br />applicant has already complied with the backflow preventer installation requirement and the <br />solid waste management plan requirement. <br />The applicant, Dorothy Madigan, was in attendance. Ms. Madigan indicated that she is <br />agreeable to the conditions as proposed by the Planning Director. <br />There was no one from the public wishing to testify on this agenda item. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Domingo and seconded by Commissioner Woodward that the <br />application be approved as recommended by the Planning Director with conditions. A roll call <br />vote was taken and motion carried with five ayes (Domingo, Woodward, Bowman, Housel and <br />Watanabe) and three absent and excused (Alameda, Iwashita and Ogata). <br />RECESSED The Chair called a recess at 10:07 a.m. <br />RECONVENED The meeting reconvened at 10:20 a.m. <br />SMA 08-000030 The Commission took this item up at 10:20 a.m. with no one from <br />WALUA SUNSETS LLC the public in attendance. <br />WAIAHA, <br />NORTH KONA <br />APPLICANT: WALUA SUNSETS LLC (SMA 08-000030) <br />a.
