The area involved is located at the northwest corner of State <br />Highway 19 and Kalaoa Camp Road, adjacent to and south of Aukuu Stream, Kalaoa, <br />South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-7-8: portion of 130. <br />(SEE EXHIBIT C) <br />RECESSEDThe Chair called a short recess at 11:25 a.m. <br />RECONVENEDThe meeting reconvened at 11:30 a.m. <br />AMEND CHAPTER 25The Commission took this item up at 11:30 a.m. with <br />PLANNING DIRECTORapproximately 43 people from the public in attendance. <br />DEFINITION OF FAMILY <br />Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), Article 1, Section 25-1-5(b) of the Hawaii <br />County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), by amending the definition of “family” <br />to read as follows: <br />“Family” means an individual or two or more persons related by blood, state-sanctioned <br />adoption, foster parentage, guardianship or marriage, or a group of not more than five <br />unrelated persons (excluding servants), occupying a dwelling unit. The term includes <br />individuals in larger group living situations described as group living facilities and family <br />child care homes[.] and a group of not more than eight unrelated persons, plus any <br />program staff, living in a facility licensed by the department of health. <br />(SEE EXHIBIT D) <br />4 <br /> <br />
