TO:
County of Hawaii WINDWARD PLANNING
COMMISSION
Aupuni Center • 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3 • Hilo, Hawai'i 9672
From:
Noa Caiserman
96-3007 Puakalehua Place
Pahala, Hawaii 96777
Woodvalley@hotmail.com
808-756-3183
Re: Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics
To Whom it May Concern:
I live less than a mile from your proposed site for the proposed satellites. I am giving testimony
regarding my grave concerns about this project.
1. This project will have significant impact on this environment, which is now lush, quiet
and beautiful. Many of the Wood Valley residents came here because of the ocean
views and wish to live in this natural and remote area. This project will be an ugly eye
sore in our neighborhood.
2. There is a great concern about introducing powerful electromagnetic energy into this
bucolic natural environment. This unnatural energy has a negative impact on residents'
health as well as their livestock and pets.
3. This land is ripe for agricultural production such as coffee, fruits, vegetables and exotic
plants and it is inappropriate to subject this rich land to the known and unknown effects
of electromagnet energy.
4. The project is likely to invite spectators to the area which adds unnecessary pollution
and strangers roaming about.
5. In the event the Commission chooses to plant vegetation around this heinous eye sore,
it would take many, many years for it to grow tall enough to hide its ugliness.
