February 11, 2022 Five ayes for the Board to go into executive session, which we will do now. So, our secretary - reporter will secure the rooms for the Board to discuss the selection of the new Director of Human Resources. It will be just a few minutesI'm assuming. RECESS: The Chair called for a recess at 10:06 a.m. to convene executive session. RECONVENE: The meeting reconvened at 10:17 a.m. in open session. CHR. CABANAS: Okay. Good morning, everyone, The Merit Appeals Board is back in open session on February 11, 2022, at 10:17 a.m. Present in the Hilo Council Chambers of the Hawaii County Building, at 25 Aupuni Street, are the following Merit Appeals Board members: I am Gabriella Cabanas, Chair, of the Merit Appeals Board; Mr. Mel Ventura, Vice -Chair; Ms. Kate De Soto, Ms. Gay Mathews, and Mr. Charlie Kunz. Also present are our Assistant Corporation Counsel J. Yoshimoto, our Secretary -Reporter Glynis Yamada, Acting Director of Human Resources Waylen Leopoldino, Mayor Mitch Roth, Executive Assistant Cyrus Johnasen, and Relley Aracely from the Office of the County Clerk who is staffing the computer equipment to ensure we have Zoom capability. Also appearing via Zoom from Oahu is Ms. Amanda Furman our Deputy Attorney General and from the West Hawaii Today, our news reporter Nancy Cook -Lauer. I want to greet all of you on this important occasion. I also want to acknowledge the staff from the Department of Human Resources they are waiting outside of the Hilo Council Chambers of the Hawaii County Building.
