The <br />project site is located within the Kamehameha Park complex, adjacent to Hisaoka <br />Gymnasium, Kapaau, North Kohala, Hawaii, TMK: 5-4-9: portion of 4. <br />Mr. Hayashi oriented the Commission and public of the subject and surrounding <br />properties on the location map and site plan, summarized the request and noted the <br />Planning Director recommended approval of the application with conditions. <br />The applicantÓs representatives, Danette Mettler and Major Elroy Osorio, were in <br />attendance. <br />Commissioner Graham questioned why the tower is not proposed to be located on the <br />police station property rather than in the middle of a very heavily traffic area. Major <br />Osorio noted that, according to their engineers, the subject site affords the best coverage <br />as it will improve the line of site connectivity with the other site and will maintain the <br />integrity of the microwave loop system, noting one of the reasons for the degradation of <br />the system is that trees grow and interfere with the broadcasts. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Fujikawa and seconded by Commissioner Mina that the <br />application be approved based on and incorporating the Planning DirectorÓs <br />recommendation with conditions.
