work-up is approximately 4 hours for both sections, with an additional final 8-hour <br />scenario to be conducted at confined spaces within their response areas. <br /> Captain Roback and BC Springer attended a 3-day Blue Card Command Simulation <br />Lab to perform an initial evaluation of this Incident Command System training program. <br />The Training Services Branch received interest from over 20 applicants to participate <br />in a pilot program which will evaluate two (2) Incident Command System programs for <br />Type 4 and 5 incidents. The programs to be evaluated in this pilot are Blue Card <br />Command, and Mastering Fireground Command: Controlling the Chaos. <br />st <br /> The 51 Recruit Class was called upon to assist with the Phala Brushfire, incident <br />#26103 on November 21 and 22. Recruits got real-world experience in wildland fire <br />suppression, including fire attack, fuel removal, and pump operations. <br />st <br /> The 51 Recruit Class received training on our portable radio system from James <br />and asset tracking system by Mr. Thomas Olsen. <br /> The International Association of Fire Fighters Fire Ground Survival Program was <br />st <br />delivered to the 51 Recruit Class. The program consists of 32-hours of training on <br />self-survival procedures related to structural firefighting. The Fire Ground Survival <br />Instructor Cadre is also leveraging this opportunity to certify new assistant instructors <br />from Emergency Operations to ensure succession of this program, which has been <br />taught to recruit classes for over a decade. Discussions are ongoing as to delivering <br />annual refresher training on this topic to incumbent personnel. <br />Section Report by: BC Springer <br /> <br /> <br />VOLUNTEER FIRE REPORT <br />Highlights <br /> Volunteer Companies 11-Alpha, 11-Charlie, 11-Delta, and 20-Alpha responded to the <br />Phala brush fire and supported extinguishment operations throughout the incident. <br /> All volunteer companies were trained in cancer prevention, decontamination/personal <br />protective equipment cleaning, and firefighter rehabilitation.
