I though what might be useful, could you give us a very graphic description of whata <br />concrete batching plant and an asphalt,and I think it was asking for an asphalt concrete <br />batching plant. What are both of those are in as simple terms as possible? <br />FUKE:Madam Chair, if I could just step back and request Mr. Harlan. <br />Mr. Harlan is very conversant in that area and I€d like to defer that question. What was the question? <br />YUEN:What exactly happens in a concrete batching plant such as <br />Mr. Ishimaru is proposing? <br />HARLAN:Okay. A concrete batching plant is a, for that size of area, would <br />probablywarrantatwo-truckoperation;andit€stwobinsandasilo.Andyoudumpsand <br />in one bin, you dump the aggregate in the other bin, and your silo, holds your concrete. <br />You back your truck up underneath it and it drops in your truck. You add the water, <br />spins around and you€re gone with your mud. <br />YUEN:Okay. So it€s simply where they mix the concrete -? <br />HARLAN:It mixes the concrete, it would fit within this room. <br />YUEN:But it€s simply where you mix cement, sand, gravel and water? <br />HARLAN:What it is is three different departments, I mean, compartments <br />that hold the stuff that you put a little bit of this in, a little bit of that in, a little bit of this <br />in into your truck, add the water and go. It€s a holding, it€s a separator, basically. <br />YUEN:Okay. And then an asphalt batching plant? <br />HARLAN:An asphalt batching plant basically -. <br />YUEN:An asphalt concrete batching plant as proposed here, yeah. <br />HARLAN:Well, okay, that€s a concrete plant what we just talked about. <br />YUEN:Yes, all right. <br />HARLAN:Now, then there€s an asphalt plant. <br />YUEN:All right. <br />HARLAN:It is not a concrete asphalt plant, it€s just an asphalt plant. <br />20 <br /> <br />
